data.police.uk is run by the Home Office. The archive index starts at 2013-12.zip; every zip up to 2016-12.zip holds everything from 2010-12, and every zip from 2017-06.zip is the ~36-month window ending that month, one YYYY-MM/YYYY-MM-<force>-{street,outcomes,stop-and-search}.csv per force (stop and search from 2014-12). Forces back-fill earlier months, so archives overlap and the newest archive wins for any month; each month records the archive it came from (local_crime_coverage.archive). The full history 2010-12..2026-06 is 2016-12.zip + 2019-12.zip + 2022-12.zip + 2023-06.zip + 2026-06.zip (ingest/tests/fixtures/policeuk/ARCHIVES.md). LSOA codes are 2011 codes in archives generated before June 2023 and 2021 codes after; both map to April 2025 local authorities, so history is aggregated to today's authorities by offence location, never to historical boundaries. Crime types were revised in 2011 and 2013; ukdata.local.categories harmonises them and refuses unknown types. Includes the Police Service of Northern Ireland (no LSOA codes) and British Transport Police (non-territorial, absent from 2025-02); never Police Scotland. Greater Manchester Police has supplied no data since 2019-07; Gloucestershire stopped at 2026-01. Counts are police-recorded crime and reflect reporting and recording practice. Stop and search ethnicity is officer-defined, not self-defined.
