Freedom of Information
Where a figure is held by a public authority but not published, we ask for it under the Freedom of Information Act 2000. Every request is recorded here with the question as sent, the authority, the date sent, the statutory deadline (20 working days), the status, a summary of the response, every released file with its hash, and any refusal, exemption cited or appeal. Released data enters the site only through the same pipeline as a published table, with the request as its source.
Requests
No request has been sent yet. Nothing is listed here that has not actually been sent or drafted against a data gap; the register starts empty rather than with placeholders.
Questions where a request may help
Data gaps whose entry says an FOI request is likely to produce data held but not published. Being listed here is not a request; a request appears above only once it has been drafted.

How requests are handled
A request is sent only for a question in the data-gaps register whose status is FOI required, not published or fragmented, and only where the entry explains why the data is likely to be held. Requests ask for data in machine-readable form and for the definitions used. A refusal is recorded with the exemption cited; an internal review or complaint to the Information Commissioner is recorded as an appeal. Responses from several authorities to the same question are shown with their coverage and are never summed into a national figure.
