Mid-year population estimates time series (National Records of Scotland)

Sheet "Table 1" holds council area populations by sex and single year of age, 1981 to mid-2025; only the Persons rows and the All Ages column are loaded. NRS files each year under the council code of the day, so Aberdeen City is S12000001 in 1981 and S12000033 today; every year of a council is filed under the code that council carries in the file's most recent year, matched on the council's name. Glasgow City and North Lanarkshire exchanged a small area in 2019 and NRS does not restate the earlier years, so those two councils' pre-2019 figures are on the boundaries of their day. The ONS mid-year workbook (ons_mid_year_population) covers England and Wales only; nothing here is derived from it.
