Scotland is published for broad rental market areas and Northern Ireland for the country as a whole, so neither has a council-level figure here.

Nothing is carried forward. Method Methodology What this does not measure The asking rent for a property advertised today, which is usually higher than the average across all tenancies, nor social rents, nor what any particular tenant pays.
The Price Index of Private Rents estimates the average rent across all private tenancies in an area, new lets and continuing tenancies, modelled from Valuation Office Agency data in England and the equivalent bodies in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. It is not an asking-rent series and usually sits below advertised rents for new lets. Recent months are revised as data arrives. The site holds England and Wales local authorities plus UK, country and region totals; Scottish councils and Northern Ireland districts are in the source but outside the site's geography registry.
