GOV.UK · departmental transparency returns

Ministerial gifts, hospitality, travel and meetings

There is no single register. Each department publishes its own quarterly return on GOV.UK as a set of files. Civometry holds 542 such publications from 29 departments and offices, covering quarters from 1 May 2010 to 31 March 2026, and has read 60,779 meeting rows from 625 meetings files.

Departments, by the latest quarter published

“Quarters behind” counts whole quarters between the end of the latest quarter a department has published and today. Returns are normally published a quarter or two after the period ends; a department shown several quarters behind has not published, or has published under a title this loader did not recognise. Either is worth checking on GOV.UK before it is read as anything else.

What is read, and what is only linked

Of the four returns, only the meetings file is read into rows: its four columns (minister, date, who was met, purpose) have stayed the same across departments and years. Gifts, hospitality and travel files differ from department to department, so they are linked from each publication and not parsed. 246 meetings files could not be read and say why on the department's page.

A minister’s name and the name of whoever they met are the file’s own words. A cell that lists several organisations stays one cell. A meeting is a meeting the department recorded; the records do not say what was said or what followed, and nothing on this site infers either.
